I took my dog up to Kinnikinnick Park on Monday, to the sports field where dogs play when people aren’t playing. Hadn’t been there since spring, so I was surprised to see, what with our extreme water shortage, a big wet soggy section of green grass just a few feet from the street, at the edge of the dry sports field. There was a green plastic cover which was literally floating. I lifted the unsecured cover off and found a “box” full of water with a pipe coming up with an open “flip-lid.”
There happened to be a District worker emptying garbage cans and I asked him about the water oozing out. He told me, “We’ve been trying to fix it for a long time.” If District workers can’t fix the leak, for God’s sake hire a plumber and stop wasting gazillions of gallons of water while we watch our gardens dry up.
