The Sechelt Indian Band with the provincial government gave residents 30 days to respond to a dock management plan for Pender Harbour, which they have been formatting for 10 years secretly and unveiled on April 7, with no previous consultation with us in Pender Harbour. (The comment period was later extended by another 30 days.)

We have been told we are a “test area” and the intent is to involve all waterfront properties throughout B.C. in the future.

According to this plan, dock owners must comply with extensive regulations including hiring expert inspectors and reports at owners’ expense, likely thousands of dollars per owner, with no guarantee our foreshore lease will be reinstated.

Local residents, mainly senior citizens, feel bullied and abused by this destruction to our quiet and peaceful way of life.
