I’m confused about this political desire to have 25,000 Syrian refugees taken in by Canada by the end of 2015. Even though the majority of Canadians now seem to be having second thoughts about an off-hand political promise, there seems to be no concern for the long-term costs or social and health implications. Broken promises of all politicians are like sawdust on the floor of a mill. To insist on fulfilling this “promise” that was made for political pre-election purposes only serves to prove the immaturity and lack of understanding of the implications.
