Last week the SCRD stated we have a $50,000 shortfall in recreation facility funding. Be that as it may, recreational facilities are not in the business of making money; they provide health and long-term benefits to the communities they serve. Furthermore why wasn’t the $80,000 deficit last year announced as well? Maybe the SCRD should look at its own expenditures when the pool was built: contracting companies we are now suing for various costs that they (SCRD) signed off on. I find it interesting that this deficit is announced at the same time as union contracts are being negotiated.
