I belong to a society called For the Love of Gospel Rock. We have started a campaign to purchase Gospel Rock block 7. We would like support from the mayor and council and hope to also have help financially from the parks acquisition fund.
My understanding of the fund is that it has been acquiring funds from purchase through the gradual subdivision of properties allowed to pay into the fund in lieu of the statutory five per cent parks dedication. Dedicated citizens of the community have also donated or sold to the Town at reduced prices, which has enhanced the Town-owned land base.
Although Gibsons Public Market is wonderful, the money in the fund is for parkland.
