Parents should do their job

Michael Maser’s letter seems to take the same “I’m not capable of raising my own children” litany that has become so popular. Parents in New Westminster and Surrey  are claiming human rights issues are being violated, as their children are not receiving three glucose tests per day or being monitored constantly for symptoms of low or high glucose. This is a public school, not a hospital.

The B.C. government is committed to $270,000 in funding to teach Surrey youth the dangers of drugs, guns and gangs. Apparently, the parents do not know of these dangers.

Now you want controls on what adults can watch on a newscast that keeps us informed. It is the parents’ choice as to what medical care the children receive, who the children associate with and the lifestyle they choose.

You choose to be a parent — now take on the responsibility that is part of the job.
