Nothing but disrespect

Ben Ingram's report on the Weston town hall meeting (Coast Reporter, April 20) failed miserably to convey the substance and range of commentary offered by the speakers, but it certainly did give admirable coverage to the pap offered by Mr. Weston.

What does Mr. Weston mean when he states that "the people who come to a meeting like this tend to be unhappy and motivated by their unhappiness" and "are characterized by extreme positions black or white"? If that was his opinion, why did he not have the courage to say so at the meeting rather than mouthing the meaningless, "I'm here to listen and serve." Baloney!

Mr. Weston absolutely negates the serious and realistic concerns of his constituents for the welfare of Canada and Canadians. He discounts and discredits the intelligence and motivation of the audience and thereby justifies his contempt. He parrots the Harper line very well, even stooping to brand ordinary citizens as "extreme." Truly he disgraces himself and his office by his blatant disrespect.
