I am appalled at the volume of expired insurance decals I see on vehicles parked or driving on the streets of the Sunshine Coast. Yesterday there was a March decal in the Sunnycrest Mall lot, and an expired July decal at Wilson Park. Today, Aug. 1, at Kinnikinnick Park there were two expired decals from last month.
Of course I carry underinsured motorist protection for my car, but what about the person driving an uninsured vehicle that gets into an accident and obtains an injury? ICBC is not likely to grant a grace period for foolishness.
There is a hefty fine associated with driving without insurance if the RCMP pull you over. So please, insure your vehicle if you wish to keep it on the road. Otherwise park it on private property and use alternate means of transportation.
