Need a vision for viable community

I have lived and operated a business in  Gibsons for the past 16 years. In all those years I have not seen any growth to Lower Gibsons, only business starting and folding.

With about half the population over 55, we are a retirement community. A  thriving society needs to have citizens from all age groups. Our children right now have to leave to  find work. If we do not make wise decisions for the future, Gibsons will die with its citizens. We need to look to make this a viable community.

I hope that on this election day, voters come out and vote for the people who can envision Gibsons as a thriving place to live and work. If we do not allow new business to develop, we may as well put a sign by the ferry, “Gibsons closed for business.”
