Sechelt Coun. Doug Hockley presented a few notice of motions at the June 26 committee of the whole meeting.

He wants to see the entrance signs painted with the District logo colours, including a brilliant yellow sun in reflective paint, no less.

He also wants to relocate the flag pole from Hackett Park to the southwest corner of the Trail Bay wharf. This is getting out of hand.

No one but the artist can touch these relief sculpture entrance signs or make any changes to them. Remember not too long ago the women in a church in Italy tried to repaint the face of Christ on the wall without professional advice.

Yes, we are a small town, but we are not without professional artists to advise us if the artist has gone stage left. The two signs coming and going are doing fine in the aging process and I am sure look better today then when the signs were new. Sechelt is not Las Vegas! Maybe our councillor wants to light it up with orange and blue neon lighting.

This is why we have a high school logo on our Sechelt trucks and letterhead and not the professional logo we used to have.

This is what happens when mayor and council terminate the arts, culture and heritage advisory committee after 13 years of service.
