Here’s a modest proposal for redefining residential water restrictions on the Coast. Level 1 (automatically in place from May 1 to Sept. 30): do not water your lawn; do not wash your car; do not fill your pool; do not pressure wash your deck, your driveway, or the sidewalk in front of your house; but do water your gardens as much as they need it. In other words, feed yourself, feed your family, feed friends.
