Miraculous escape

Letters

Editor:

On the morning of Nov. 12, 2014, I was involved in a horrific accident a few kilometres from Madeira Park.

I wish to convey my deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude to all of the first responders who attended the scene and worked feverishly to free me from my car — the RCMP, the volunteer firemen, the ambulance paramedics and the helicopter paramedics and pilot.

I’d also like to thank the person responsible for lifting the truck off my car and anyone else who was on the scene for calling in this emergency.

I was trapped in my car for 90 minutes with grave potential for a fire to start. When I first heard a voice and found my car horn, I was desperate to hope I’d be pulled out of this wreck.

It was a nightmare from the darkest place of one’s soul. But these wonderful people worked in speedy precision and unison to free me. The voices of encouragement, the provision of comfort and concern demonstrated to me became my desperate link to freedom.

The closer they advanced the more hopeful my situation became.

To say thank you is not enough to convey my own and my family’s deepest gratitude to all. May I say to everyone who was there: you are so very essential to this world and your dedication and training is greatly noted for helping those who are not able to help themselves. You each play a role in the challenging but very essential routine of days that sometimes require your extraordinary skills and time.

So walk proud, love your families, and reward yourselves with an indulgent moment in every day. Love and light to you.
