Geoff White of Sechelt believes that "a petition of only 374 detractors, just some of those who oppose the chosen contractor and site for the new plant) doesn't cut much mustard by my calculations," (Coast Reporter, letters, July 12).
Perhaps Geoff should reflect on the fact that the present mayor gained office on a majority of only 595 votes in the November 2011 election and that three of his councillors had majorities of less than 300, Darnelda Siegers a majority of only 264. Size doesn't always count Geoff. History shows us time and again, particularly in politics, that the opposition minority was right all along.
For the record only 47 per cent of Sechelt's eligible electors bothered to vote in November 2011.
