The tongue in cheek letter from Dianne Goldberg was a delight (“What really matters,” Sept. 25). The dollars it would cost to build a road traffic connection from the Sunshine Coast “to the other side” could be put to better use. Building the necessary bridges and roads would be no problem. The necessary design and construction skills are readily available. So are the printing machines needed to print the millions and millions of dollars needed.
I was an officer in the Royal Engineers in World War II. We had Bailey Bridges and pontoons to meet land and water crossing challenges. Then was then and now is now. But yes! We have the engineers and contractors who would jump at the challenge.
The cost would be another thing. Where would the millions come from? I doubt if the 30 or so thousands who live on the Coast would be happy about that. Nor would our various levels of government.
