Zoom helps lift the gloom

We all hate having our routines disrupted by COVID. It can create a mood of resentment that stops us from adapting to adversity. It happened to me with Toastmasters. COVID led to changes that were very annoying.

I joined Morningstars Toastmasters here in Gibson six years ago. I loved the stimulating routine. In March we had to move our weekly meetings to Zoom. Most of us resented it. We were sure it wouldn’t work. Fortunately, one of our members knew about Zoom and he gave us a tutorial. Right away I could see smiles on people’s faces as their mood changed. My mood changed from resentment to gratitude.

We’ve gotten pretty good at Zooming.

For me, our weekly meetings are an oasis of enjoyment in a world of gloom. Zoom gives us a way to keep growing and learning a new way to stay connected with family and friends as well as clients and volunteer organizations. It is a way to reset a pathway to meaning and purpose.
