Where’s the compassion?

Letters

Editor:

I have watched the television coverage with great sadness for the residents of the Seawatch subdivision and cannot imagine the heartache they are going through. I am appalled at the response, or shall I say the lack of response, from the Sechelt council. Where is your compassion? Instead of quoting bylaws and court rulings, only one of you showed courage to show up to help them move.

The Emergency Services volunteers should have been on site, not at the Visitor Information Centre. These people were moving out of their homes, so when would they have time to go to the centre?

To drop off three bags of road salt instead of making sure the road was cleared so the residents had better access to their homes to move out their belongings is an insult.

Bravo to the strangers who came with food and vehicles to help. That is the Sunshine Coast way.

Shame, shame on the council!
