During a recent trip to visit family in Halfmoon Bay, we heard that the SCRD is considering installing a disc golf course in Welcome Woods and Connor Park, and we couldn’t be more delighted! Our family has been playing disc golf for three years now in Victoria and find that it’s a great way to meet new friends and enjoy the natural environment. We’ve continued to play because it’s an inexpensive sport that allows us to get outdoors for long walks in the woods, while providing a fun activity to do along the way.
On Christmas Eve we made it to Shirley Macey Park in Gibsons to play the nine-hole disc golf course there, and we were so impressed by how well-integrated the course was into the existing forest landscape that we returned a few days later to play a second round. We really hope that on a future visit we’ll be able to play some rounds at the Sunshine Coast’s newest disc golf course in Halfmoon Bay.
