Letters: Watching the Porpoise Bay boat population grow

In the last couple years, I’ve watched the Porpoise Bay boat population steadily increase.

Our changing inlet. In the last couple years, I’ve watched the Porpoise Bay boat population steadily increase. In the winter I see smoke being expelled as the owners heat their live aboard vessels, I watch construction as additional structures are added, along with the odd sunken vessel amongst this increasing aquatic community. The news hour shows live aboard water craft being expelled from the Lower Mainland – are these vessels we are seeing on the Coast this displaced population? Where is their sewage/waste going? Is anyone in our local government addressing this situation, and on that matter, is it even legal...? As the atrocious condition of our local roads further deteriorate, landfills quickly fill up and domestic water supply remains at critical levels, can we afford to add this situation to the mix?
