While Justine states “the most important part of our work is to listen”, I ask when is that going to happen? Listening is the last thing that is happening, and that is the “basis of the anxiety and confusion in the community”. No amount of studies, delays or surveys will change the outcome wanted by the majority of Halfmoon Bay residents. Their voices, and their desire for the hall at Coopers Green continues to fall on deaf ears. One wonders why there has been a 180 on the work so painstakingly done by so many committed people. Where did all the preceding investment of time, effort, and fundraising go? Where was it suggested that if the SCRD are not willing to commit to Coopers Green, let’s just re-name it and build at Connor Park instead. There has been a distinct lack of clear guidance, waffling, and delaying tactics on this project by all concerned.
What is the real reason? Do not quote “sea level rise”, that is a convenient excuse that has been latched on to. HMB residents want and deserve the truth, something that is very obviously being avoided.
