Sometimes, things aren’t always what they seem!

Last week’s Kisses and Kicks column had the following: “Kicks to the people who think it is ok to deposit their garbage at someone else’s pick up place.  How rude and unfair.”

For two years I lived in a small cottage, and my landlady and I regularly combined our green waste (we rarely had enough to each fill our individual containers). We recycled as much as possible, and about every two to three months put out the regular garbage can when it was half-full.  And then circumstances changed, and I had to move. I now live in an apartment building where there is no green waste pickup. In fact, all the garbage at my building is lumped together into a big dumpster. I still recycle as much as possible – but what to do with my green waste? I contacted my former landlady and asked her permission to put my green waste in her container each week, to which she readily agreed. Once, when she was away – I called another friend and asked if I could do the same.  So, when you see me putting my “garbage” in someone else’s container – I am not randomly dumping it in, but doing so with their express knowledge and permission. If you had stopped me and asked – I would have explained this to you.  Please don’t try and shame people when you don’t have all the facts. How rude and unfair.
