St. Mary's Hospital/Health Care Auxiliary would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Community for their support over the past year, especially those who donate to and shop at our Thrift Store in Sechelt.

This enterprise is our largest fundraiser and helped us to contribute $230,000 to health care on the Coast last year. The donations we receive at the store are sorted and most items are put out for sale. As our facilities are limited, clothing that is in need of washing or repair is sent to a charitable organization on the Lower Mainland. Items that are broken, missing pieces or just plain worn out have to be thrown out. We do not have room for furniture, old TVs, etc., so these also have to be thrown out if they are left at our back door, which is a hazard to our volunteers.

Disposal is one of the largest items in our budget, costing about $8,000 per year - money not going to health care. So, keep the donations of saleable items coming, we really appreciate them, but please do not send us your garbage.
