Re: Across the Lines CD launch
On Jan. 13 we attended the Across the Lines CD release at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre. What an amazing afternoon of innovative music to launch an equally exciting community project.
Across the Lines is a collaboration that brought together local musicians and residents of care facility Christianson Village to explore the process of storytelling and sound creation. Launched by Christianson Village organizer Bruce Devereux and sound architect Steve Wright, the result is truly impressive album - picture spoken word, poetry and found-sounds - mixed beautifully with improvised acoustic soundscapes.
At the event, Wright led the Across the Lines band through a number of selections and what a treat it was to see all of the musicians beaming with smiles as the playfulness of the music spread throughout the packed room.
At the end of the launch, I felt extremely lucky to have witnessed such a creative celebration of music, storytelling and community.
