The story of the George and the OCP is actually quite simple.

In his response to the developer’s initial proposal, on May 1, 2013, the town planner advised in the introduction to a comprehensive report, that there were “concerns regarding the fit of the project with the Official Community Plan.” He then outlined those concerns for seven pages.

At this point town council had to make a decision. Either request the developer to modify the project to fit the Official Community Plan, or to modify the Official Community Plan to accommodate the project. The majority of town council chose to do the latter.
