An open letter to the prime minister of Canada and to the member of Parliament for West Vancouver - Sunshine Coast - Sea to Sky Country:
Will you please provide adequate funds to compensate Sechelt Nation’s day scholars and create shíshálh culture and language restoration programs so the young may access the great cultural and linguistic wealth that is their heritage?
The Crown should not have to be forced through legal action to do what is just and reasonable to ensure reconciliation now that the truth about the ill-advised attempt to assimilate First Peoples has been admitted in the House of Commons.
Won’t you take meaningful steps to demonstrate that you reject the impoverished view of honour that would have the Crown deny justice to the First Nations of Canada?
