Flawed survey, wrong time

Letters

Editor:

Well, it looks like our MLAs have decided to pass legislation on permanent daylight time, backed by the unfortunate public survey that was done last year – a survey that did not include the option of staying on standard time, which the scientific community says would be a much better choice. Talk about fudging the outcome and manipulating the survey by leaving out the standard time choice.

I am a morning person, and the thought that from mid-November to the beginning of April I’ll be taking my morning walk in the dark is not something I am looking forward to.

I do hope that the legislators will come to their senses. The business reason for the Pacific coast to have the same permanent daylight savings is flawed. I hope the Americans can look at the science and make the right decision. Mind you, we have about an hour of difference in our solar day than California. The further south you go the less dramatic the daylight cycle is, so California will be the least affected by this choice.
