This Saturday morning (May 15), I awoke to find that someone had taken a knife to my car. They had forced the gas lid open and threw the cap on the ground. Then they used a knife to carve up three sides of my car and slashed the driver's front tire. I was stunned and shocked beyond belief that someone could actually do this to someone's property.

The police came to investigate and that is when I found out that I was one of 11 cars hit late Friday night, early Saturday morning. This made it less personal, but it didn't take away the feeling of being completely violated.

Apparently the same thing happened last weekend, but I think there were only seven cars vandalized. By Sunday afternoon, May 16, I ran into three other people who had just discovered that their vehicles were attacked. This brings the count to 21 cars vandalized in a six-day period. The damage alone to my car is estimated at $3,000.

I would like to have some sort of nighttime surveillance in place, especially in the hard hit areas. This might be a thing for ICBC to finance providing they can get the permission from the people in these areas to agree to have nighttime surveillance. I know I would agree to it. These culprits need to be caught and put to justice.

I plead to all of you out there, if you catch wind of who these vandals are please call the RCMP.
