Enforcement has to improve first

If I understand John Gleeson's article correctly (Coast Reporter, May 31), according to the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) there are no off-leash areas for dogs within SCRD jurisdiction. I would then welcome any member of the SCRD board to drop down to the walkway on the waterfront between Inlet and Trail avenues, at any time on a sunny day, to see several dog owners treating this area as an off-leash dog park. Of course, the area is posted, and many owners do comply with the on-leash requirement, but if the SCRD is considering a workable "dogs in parks" policy, then enforcement of any regulations will have to improve over what it is now.
