Re: Ebbtide and Trail

In January I expressed concern for pedestrians who walk past the processing plant and works yard on Ebbtide. I had no idea that it would be me, but as I walk at least once a day, I am not surprised.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, as I was passing the works yard and processing plant, I was forced to walk on the road as a vehicle was parked on the shoulder. As I proceeded to walk around it, a school bus came alongside me with about an inch to spare. You can imagine my fear as I was half scared out of my wits that a vehicle would pass me that close.

Ebbtide is a major connection between Trail and Wharf. At any given time of day, there are trucks in and out of the works yard and processing plant. There is a constant stream along Ebbtide of garbage trucks, school buses, trucks of all shapes and sizes, passenger vehicles and, most importantly, people on foot.

You cannot ignore the risk that you have put the residents of this area in by ignoring this hazardous and unsafe section of the road. As we enter the rainy season, this section of Ebbtide will become even more dangerous as rain creates rivers and deep ruts that force pedestrians to walk on the road.

I implore you to please address this unsafe road and provide a sidewalk before someone is seriously hurt and you find the District facing a lawsuit.
