The following letter was sent to Sechelt council and copied to Coast Reporter.
I am writing to you in regards to the cancelling of the drag races. I just have to ask: why?
I have lived on this Coast my entire life, grown up here and have a road named after our family.
There really never has been anything for the younger generation to do around here. I have been hearing a lot over the years about how this is a retirement community and everything around this statement seems to be focused on the older people.
I think somebody better open their eyes because there are a lot of younger people here as well. We finally get things for them to do here. and then they get washed aside.
My youngest has just turned 16 and has been talking about wanting/waiting to get his licence so he can join in on the fun, and I’m sure there are many more in the same boat as he.
Give the younger generation something to do, to look forward to. Do not take this away from them, please.
Wayne Tyson, Sechelt
