Well, if ever I was scared for the future of a quaint, semi-rustic, seaside village (and my chosen home after living in every corner of North America), it is this week, and I am referring to Gibsons.
As 10 candidates vie for positions on town council to make the most important decisions governing the future of our sweet little town, I urge all eligible voters to research and really think about which of the candidates honours the official community plan, the democratically derived blueprint for the Town’s growth and livability as well as the harbour area plan.
I urge you all to consider the candidates who live full time in this community, are not beholden to local business interests and are therefore truly working in the spirit of democratic governance of the Town — in essence they are the ones who are progressive, but wish to steer the Town according to what the majority of the residents wish for.
