De ja view perhaps?

Have you ever experienced that feeling when you go somewhere, and you have very strong feelings you have been there before, but you know you haven't.

Déjà vu perhaps?

This experience happened to me recently.

A friend did something really stupid and ended up going to jail for six months. I decided he needed my support so I went to visit him. We talked, and he seemed to be fairly positive about things.

While he talked, I began to notice the surroundings, and I had this vague feeling I had been there before - two-metre high cyclone fencing with three strands of barbed wire at the top, grim-faced guards in drab uniforms. Stern announcements over the loudspeaker about the consequences of being late, almost like "do not pass go, go directly to jail." Where did these memories come from?

I said goodbye to my friend, and made my way back to Horseshoe Bay, and onto the 3:30 p.m. sailing. All the way back this feeling I had been there before resonated in my brain. Where was this place that niggled the edge of my consciousness?

As we disembarked, and I made my way off the ferry, of course, that niggling memory came flooding back to reality -the Langdale ferry terminal!
