A recent trip to a local auto parts supplier proved interesting. My request was simple: “How much will it cost to replace this worn windshield wiper blade?”
The response: “I’ll have to get back to you on that.”
He did, and the quote was a staggering $55 for the blade with an additional $100 for the “tricky installation.” And that was before taxes.
My response: “I’ll have to get back to you on that.”
A timely text to the previous owner was quite informative. He checked into it and the car dealership assured him that “a replacement blade costs $12 with no labour costs associated as it simply snaps into place.”
Yes, buyer beware!
And local merchants, please don’t complain about lack of community support. Little old ladies like me do not appreciate being ripped off, and are unlikely to trust you again.
