With reference to your article in the Coast Reporter of May 2, “Speed drop request wins support,” Transportation Choices (TraC) attends the bi-monthly meeting of the transportation advisory committee (TAC) where Mr. Page appeared before the committee.

His presentation was passionate, detailed and admirable in that he had received consensus from many of his neighbours on Beach Avenue.

While TraC supports the Sunshine Coast Regional District’s proposed Beach Avenue walking path, we also laud his efforts to enhance pedestrian safety and the quality of life on this small section of road in Roberts Creek, by requesting a speed limit reduction.

Board chair Garry Nohr cautioned that these decisions are not within SCRD jurisdiction, but they are made in Victoria and are generally not favourable.

MOTI is intransigent. We hope that the Beach Avenue residents are only more so.
