Re: District of Sechelt logo

The Village of Sechelt was incorporated on Feb. 15, 1956. In 1986, the Village of Sechelt expanded its boundaries to include West Sechelt, West Porpoise Bay, East Porpoise Bay, Sandy Hook, Tuwanek, Selma Park, Davis Bay and Wilson Creek. It was now called the Corporation of the District of Sechelt.

The logo adopted in 1986 was designed by Bernie Jones, who was on staff with the District of Sechelt. It located Sechelt on the ocean in a beautiful setting and "Heart of the Sunshine Coast" reinforced this image and in a few words described the many amenities available here.

When I was councillor with the District of Sechelt between 1990 to 1993 and 1996 to 2000, the District of Sechelt original logo pin was very popular at conventions, gatherings, etc. as a collector memento.

I was shocked with what the previous mayor and council selected as the logo with no public input.
