The following letter was sent to the provincial government regarding the dock proposal in Middlepoint and application number 2411037 and copied to Coast Reporter for publication.
Dear Mr. Brian Kukulies:
I am assuming that if Chip Wilson’s application number 2411037 is approved, despite all the neighbours and the Sunshine Coast Regional District, etc., being opposed, does this mean that as a waterfront owner myself, I will be able to go ahead and put in a huge breakwater in Halfmoon Bay, even if all my neighbours up and down the beach are completely opposed? After all, a precedent will have been set.
If Chip Wilson can get away with it, why shouldn’t anyone else who wants to build one get away with it?
Just think of all the breakwaters that can now be constructed along the Sunshine Coast, wherever and whenever anyone wants one.
How wonderful for altered tidal action and natural current flow disruption, not to mention damaged marine habitat.
By the way, I am curious as to why you are apparently refusing to disclose who gets to make the final decision regarding the file number 2411037? Another example of open government?
