Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) directors voted to award a contract worth approximately $300,000 to Associated Environmental Consultants Inc. to start the permitting phase of a project to install a well or well field at Church Road in Granthams Landing, outside Gibsons.
The estimated completion date for that project is 2022.
Directors at the April 18 infrastructure committee meeting also approved a proposal to spend $50,000 to upgrade the siphon system used to draw water from Chapman Lake during Stage 4 water use restrictions. Provincial permits to use the siphon expire in August and October.
At the meeting, staff also said a leading expert is being sought to review environmental flow needs.
