Search and rescue teams from the Sunshine Coast and Squamish continued to comb the area around Waugh Lake in Egmont and an RCMP dive team was searching the water as efforts to locate a missing man continued June 21.
Sunshine Coast RCMP said 26-year-old Thomas Hines was last seen Monday and was reported missing the following day when his canoe was found, but without any sign of Hines.
Hines is described as Caucasian with short brown hair and brown eyes, clean shaven, 5-8 with a stocky build, and approximately 180 lbs.
RCMP said he may have been wearing khaki cargo shorts and a button up black and brown shirt.
The RCMP dive team is expected to return next week with other equipment required to conduct the search.
Police say Hines’ family and friends have been notified, and they’re hoping anyone with information regarding any recent interactions with Hines will call Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.
