Target makes final five

Small Business BC Awards

Sechelt’s Target Marine Hatcheries has moved one step closer to winning a Small Business BC Award.

Nominated businesses that were successful in rallying the support of their community and gathered the most votes made it through to the top 10, announced in December. These businesses have now been narrowed down by the judges to the top five in 10 different categories.

Target, producer of Northern Divine caviar, is among the five finalists in the Best International Trade category along with Averill Creek Vineyard of Duncan, Branded Athletics of Coquitlam, Doi Chaang Coffee Co. of Vancouver and Polar Feet of Vancouver.

The top five finalists will now present a Dragons’ Den-style pitch to the judges to convince them why they should be named a B.C. best business.

This year was the biggest year yet for the competition with more than 460 nominations received from more than 70 communities in the province.

Winners will be announced on Feb. 26 at the Small Business BC Awards ceremony at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver.
