The Town of Gibsons’ new planning and development committee will hold its first meeting April 16, following the appointment of two community members.

Mayor Bill Beamish said Tuesday that Scott Keck, an architect who was previously a member of the Town’s Advisory Planning Commission, and Clifford Sutton, the co-owner of a Sunshine Coast-based consulting engineering firm, had been chosen from a field of 11 applicants.

“I extend my thanks to all those who applied to serve,” said Beamish in a release announcing the appointments. “We received submissions from many excellent candidates, which made the selection process quite challenging. We chose Scott and Clifford for their strong technical knowledge, experience in related fields and demonstrated interest in positive community building. I am confident they will make an invaluable contribution to the committee – and the Town of Gibsons – over the next two years.”

Coun. Aleria Ladwig, who was also on the old Advisory Planning Commission before entering politics, will chair the committee.
