After hearing from more than 1,500 people about the sorts of things they’d like to see in a new Horseshoe Bay terminal, BC Ferries is going out the public again to get feedback on some draft plans.

“The major themes that emerged during this phase related to efficiency, ensuring accessibility for all modes of transportation and creating benefit for and integration with the village of Horseshoe Bay,” the ferry company said in a release announcing the new round of consultations.

“We’ve developed these draft concepts with what we heard, and now we want to further define them with more input from the community,” said Mark Wilson, BC Ferries’ vice president, strategy and community engagement. He added that the consultations will be seeking “more detailed input on how we improve the terminal to meet the community’s future growth and emerging needs.”

Redevelopment of Horseshoe Bay is also a key piece in BC Ferries’ plans for improved service on the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale Route.

A full report summarizing the feedback from the earlier consultation is available online at bcferries.com/about/hsbterminal.

Information on the draft plans and how to offer input are available at bcferries.com/about/hsbterminal, and the online engagement will run until Oct. 31.

A community engagement event is scheduled for Oct. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gleneagles Golf Course in West Vancouver.

BC Ferries expects construction to begin on the first phase in the mid-2020s and the company said it will look into the creation of a community and transportation hub at the terminal in later phases of the plan.
