The Sunshine Coast Volleyball Club (SCVC) Smash U16 girls team played their first tournament of the season on March 11 in Richmond. Coaches Eric Pinfold and Jason Jenkins were pleased with the result."It was a great season opener for our team," said Pinfold. "Everyone worked hard and adjusted to each game throughout the day."Veteran club players Aliza Brown, Sarah Powell and Jen Brown led the team to a win in the consolation final, beating Fraser Valley Volleyball Club two straight games by identical scores of 27-25"We travelled with a skeleton team. Some players stepped into positions they weren't used to playing, and demonstrated great leadership," added Pinfold. "It was rewarding to see everyone working together and able to adapt to a different system on demand."The club continues to train in preparation for their next tournament, provincial qualifiers on the April 8 and 9 weekend in the Lower Mainland.
