The boys of summer are back and stronger than ever.

The boys of summer are back and stronger than ever. The 2006 Sunshine Coast Fastball League season is turning out to be the best participated in many years with the addition of a new men's team from Halfmoon Bay bringing to eight the number of teams to vie for the cup. Returning from last year are defending champions Gibsons Mariners, runners up Sechelt Inlet Raiders, with S&K Auto, Custom Carpet and newly named RJS Electric (formerly Gilligan's Pub) from Sechelt and the Blackfish Pub and Turenne Young Guns from Gibsons. The Mariners, behind the pitching of Jim "Weepy" Peers, are expected to be there in the end to defend their title. As always, the Raiders, behind the arm of Bill Stockwell, will be there to challenge. The rest is a race for the six remaining positions and playoff spots. Game time is 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at Brothers Park in Gibsons and Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Hackett Park in Sechelt. Come out to enjoy a good brand of ball right here on the Coast.
