The Roberts Creek Rangers and Suncoast Flyers are tied for first place after two weeks of men's A-division hockey action.

On Tuesday night, the Rangers edged the Inlet Raiders 3-2.

Gary Tetzlaff, Jason Feschuk and Steven Fitchett scored for the Rangers while Jarred Rutley and Tom Poulton replied for the Raiders.

"It was a very exciting win," said Rangers team rep Peter Leverman. "The goalies were the difference. Both Garret Marshall for our team and James Hamilton were phenomenal."

The Rangers' other contest this week was against the Flyers on Saturday night. The Flyers picked up a 3-1 win on the strength of goals from Mike Lewis and a pair from Kyle Vaughn. Keith Clegg scored the lone goal for the Rangers.

"It's good to get off to a nice start," added Leverman. "We've played everyone once. So far all the games have been close and hard fought. It's nice to see the parity in the league."

In other action, the Flyers opened their season with a 6-2 win over the Midway Power/Grasshopper Pub Hitmen on Sept. 29.

Jordan Radymski, Derek Inkster, Callum Vaughn, Connor McCarthy, Paul Johnson and Riley Bjornson scored for the Flyers. Lance Durken and Adam Mercer scored for the Hitmen.
