The inaugural Bragging Rights Cup was held last Sunday at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club (SCGCC).

The event was a Stableford competition between all the ingredient sections of the club: ladies', senior men's, men's and juniors.

The event was in aid of the B.C. Golf Association's Player Development Trust Fund, a fund that assists the best developing players with grants. In fact, only this year, Mike Hobson from Gibsons and a member of the SCGCC benefited from this very fund during his CPGA course in Victoria. He is now an assistant professional at the Royal Montreal Golf Club.

The eventual winners of the competition were the senior men with a total team score of 241, followed by the men with 236, ladies 230 and juniors 209. Most of the matches consisted of a lady, senior man and junior bringing together, probably for the first time at the club, quite unique four-ball matches.

Although the senior men won and now have the "bragging rights" over the rest of the club sections, they were quite subdued when the result was announced, believing the ladies had won.

The event will be held next year, so hopefullya few more members will enterto assist in raising much-needed funds, have a chance to win some good draw prizes and in the process have some enjoyment doing it.The winners included: Tom Milsted, Laurie Soloway, Ed Steeves, Bruce Pelly, Al Cobbin, Len Clarke, Dean Warnes, Arne Petterson, Doug Elson, Haig Maxwell and Mike Palmer.

Best individual score was Mary Horn with 42 points, best ladies' score was Deb Sneddon with 35 points, best senior men's score was Doug Elson with 37 points, best men's score was Chris Evans with 39 points and best junior score was Cam Dybwad with 36 points.
