April Fool's Run approaching fast

More than 440 runners have now signed up for the 29th Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run, set for Sunday, April 2. Nearly 60 of those are on relay teams, while the rest will runthe entire 13.1 miles from Gibsons to Sechelt.

More than 440 runners have now signed up for the 29th Sunshine Coast April Fool's Run, set for Sunday, April 2. Nearly 60 of those are on relay teams, while the rest will runthe entire 13.1 miles from Gibsons to Sechelt.Vancouver's Kevin O'Connor, a long-time competitive road racer and past Timex Series winner, is confirmed for the elite men's field.Top local finisher for the past two years, Shaun Stephens-Whale, will be running again to defend his title and set a new personal best.Organizerschallenge residents along the route to be the best neighbourhood cheering section. A post-race survey will ask the runners to name their favourite section of the route for crowd support, so get out your ghetto-blasters, pom-poms, drums etc. on April 2. First runners will arrive in the heart of the Creek at approximately 9:25 a.m., at Wilson Creek Plaza at about 9:40, Davis Bay at about 9:53, and at the Raven's Cry (finish) at about10:10.Performing at the post-race brunch and awards ceremony will bethe Sunshine Coast's own traditional and contemporary Celtic group Fiona Dhu, with Diana Halter on harp and vocals. Sweet Adelines chapter Arbutus Sounds Chorus will also perform a set in a capella four-part harmony.Online registration is open until midnight Tuesday, March 28.
