Workshop targets the ‘co-working curious’

FUSE Work Hub

Why do people use co-working spaces?

“The primary reason we hear is to get out of the house or coffee shop and into a work-centred environment, without the cost of renting a stand-alone office,” said Mark Cameron, owner of the new FUSE co-working location in Gibsons Landing.

In partnership with the Gibsons Chamber of Commerce, Cameron is holding a workshop on June 25 entitled “What is Co-working” to introduce people to the work hub and help them discover whether co-working is for them.

Cameron previously spent more than 20 years in the technology industry, including 15 years managing a software startup. He and his wife Sheila purchased commercial space in Lower Gibsons this spring and opened the new work hub on June 1.

“Co-working is a chance for people to collaborate and network while working alone together,” said Cameron. “Other benefits include access to shared resources and a meeting room.”

Rates start at $6/hour for non-members, $100/month for a flexi-pass, or $200/month for a fixed desk. See www.fusecoworking.com for more details.

What is Co-working? will be held Thursday, June 25 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at FUSE Work Hub, No. 15 - 292 Gower Point Rd. It is free for Gibsons Chamber members or $10 for non-members. Please pre-register on the Gibsons Chamber website (www.gibsonschamber.com) or call 604-886-2325.
