A woman fought off a would-be purse-snatcher on Teredo Street in Sechelt last Sunday, April 9.
Sunshine Coast RCMP said the attempted robbery occurred at about 8:45 p.m. near the Emergency Health Services building, when a female walking to her parked vehicle was approached by a heavily intoxicated male who attempted to grab her purse.
“The female was able to fight the male off, grab her purse back and run to safety at a nearby business,” RCMP said in a release.
The suspect is described as a Native male aged between 20 and 30 years old, between 6-feet and 6-feet 2-inches tall, and was wearing a baseball cap and a black sweater.
Police say patrols for the suspect were negative.
