Sunday wildfire in Elphinstone now out

An initial attack crew was able to extinguish the flames

A wildfire was discovered north of Chaster Creek on the morning of June 18.

A wildfire discovered in Elphinstone just before 10 a.m. is now officially out. 

According to the BC Wildfire map, the fire was located north of Chaster Creek and was less than an acre in size. 

Just after noon, an information officer from the Coastal Fire Centre said the fire has been declared out. An initial attack crew was able to extinguish the flames, and an investigation into the cause is under way. 

On June 18, there were 83 active wildfires listed in B.C.
