Weston was re-elected to represent the riding of West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country by a wide margin with 45.5 per cent of the vote during Canada's 41st general election on Monday night.

With all 271 polls reporting in just after 11 p.m., Weston had 28,711 votes compared to New Democrat Terry Platt with 14,812 votes. Liberal Dan Veniez was third with 14,103 votes and Green Brennan Wauters was fourth with 4,597 votes.

Rounding out the results were Roger Lagasse of the Progressive Canadian Party with 342 votes, Libertarian Tunya Audain with 244 votes, Allan Holt of the Western Block with 157 votes, Carol Lee Chapman of the Marxist-Leninist with 87 votes and Doug Hartt of the Canadian Action Party with 64 votes.

A total of 63,117 of the 98,293 registered electors voted translating into a 64.2 per cent voter turnout.

In the last election, 60,013 of the 94,144 registered electors voted or 63.8 per cent.

Nationally, the Conservatives earned a majority government around 7:30 p.m. when most of the national media made their projections.

At 11 p.m. Monday night, the Conservatives held 166 seats, NDP 102, Liberals 35, Bloc four and the Green Party one with Elizabeth May making history as she was elected as the first Green MP.
