• On Dec. 2, police attended to an arson complaint on an undeveloped property up B&K Logging Road in Roberts Creek.

The witness yelled at the suspect who then fled on foot. • Overnight on Dec. 3, thieves broke into a building in the 5700 block of Medusa Street in Sechelt, and stole a number of tools including a chainsaw and a circular saw.
The thieves appear to have gained entry by lifting a patio slider door off the track.

The Forensic Identification Section was called in from the Lower Mainland to investigate.

• On Dec. 4, a group shoplifting attempt was reported at a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt.
While one of the suspects tried to divert staff at the returns’ counter, a second suspect went to another part of the business and began throwing unpaid for items over a fence. Staff interrupted the theft and recovered the items. The suspects fled, but police are reviewing surveillance footage.
• On Dec. 4, a two-vehicle accident occurred in the 2300 block of Highway 101 in Roberts Creek, after the first eastbound vehicle slowed to make a right turn into a driveway and the second vehicle following failed to brake in time and attempted to swerve right to avoid a collision. Unfortunately, the second vehicle struck the driver's side of the first vehicle, causing it to spin and end up on the side of the road. Both the driver and passenger of the first vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries and both vehicles had to be towed.
The driver of the second vehicle was issued a violation ticket for following too closely.
• On Dec. 5, a hit-and-run was reported in the 3800 block of Port Mellon Highway, after a vehicle left overnight due to icy road conditions was struck and damaged on the front end passenger side. Police are following up with a possible witness to the accident.
